THE HOLIDAYS - Now I Know

Before Mini Mendez - Bass/lead vocals; and Marky Schrock - Lead guitar/BU vocals became the "the glimmerstars" (http://www.myspace.com/theglimmerstars), they were in a band called "The Holidays". The Holidays released a CD entitled RESTLESS HEART in 1989 that was produced and engineered by OJO TAYLOR on a label called BROKEN RECORDS.
I personally recorded and edited this video of the Holidays performing at the First Presbyterian church in Lakewood, CA sometime in August of 1985.

Hi there evangelistman. Mini from The Holidays here. Well, what a surprise! Today my son tells me he just saw a Holiday video on the Tube and I didnt believe him. How wild. I totally remember the show. Thanks for putting it up. Youre so kind. The guys are really reeling from shock.
We did do an album with Joe (Restless Heart). It was our second one, the first being Everything Is Now (also on Broken) and produced by the late, great Gene Eugene, in 88. Im impressed with your triv knowledge.

I dont know which is better, getting to work with a famous singer or getting to shoot a music video on the roof of a well-known U.K. shopping centre!!!, well actually I do know which was better and the video shoot was fun too. This video was made for a entertainment agency that were trying to get one of their acts a recording contract and I was there to make the video!, the song was Written by John Parr and recorded in his studio, we spent 2 days shooting in Sheffield (U.K.) and Barnsley (U.K.) then using "Top of the range" equipment (nah.... 2 Sony vhs vcrs a DAT Machine and a hired A/V mixer!!! Which explains the quality) me and John came up with this finished edit.
I had so much fun doing this and still cant believe I actually got paid for it! As just having the opportunity to do it was enough for me.
Simon & Shaun "Gameboyz" if you are out there... did you ever get to see this??
I wanted to place an item of my own in the video so it ended up being my watch (its on the Blonde Womans hand) I think she was called Michelle.
I still have the original footage for this (Except John Parrs "Restless Heart" video at 2:58) so one day I may re-edit this with a computer.

This is the first song Ive written, and I hope you guys like it. I wrote this one night... I had many thoughts on my mind, and this is my product.

Starpoint - Object Of My Desire (1985)

A tribute to the late but beautiful Renee Diggs.
In 1985 Starpoint recorded their seventh album "Restless", and toured extensively that year. The album sold over 600,000 records and went "Gold" with Renee singing the hit single,"Object Of My Desire". Her voice cuts through the air with a magical tone. Her high notes soar through the sky with a chilling presence and clarity.
In the middle of the "Restless" tour, Renée was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). It made it hard for Starpoint to continue touring.
Renee Diggs passed away March 18, 2005 due to complications with an underlining heart condition. She played a large part of the success that Starpoint reached with her charm, beauty and fantastic vocal ability, for which she is deeply missed.

I wrote this song in 2002. I quite enjoyed the little hint of Lavender Blue in the instrumental parts, and how that ties in with the Child theme of the song. Also, the play on the word Ecstasy.

Whitesnake - Love Aint No Stranger - Rock in Rio 1985

Logo que saiu do Deep Purple, em 1976, David Coverdale não perdeu tempo e no mesmo ano criou seu projeto solo que lançou David Coverdales Whitesnake. O segundo álbum desse projeto, Northwinds (1977) foi produzido por Roger Glover (do Deep Purple) e contou com a participação de Ronnie James Dio nos backing vocals.
Nessa época a formação era Bernie Marsden e Micky Moody (guitarras), Neil Murray (baixo) e Dave Dowle (bateria). Em 1978 saiu o álbum considerado de estréia do Whitesnake, Trouble. No ano seguinte, Jon Lord (que havia saído do Deep Purple) juntou-se à banda e na sequência vieram Lovehunter de 1979, Ready An Willing e Live In The Heart Of The City ambos de 1980.
Come and Get It de 1981 marcou a entrada de Ian Paice na banda. Apesar de tantos ex-Purples, o som do Whitesnake teve, desde o início, um estilo totalmente diferente do Deep Purple, mais voltado para as baladas hard rock, com muito love nas letras de suas canções.
Muitas mudanças ocorrem no Whitesnake, até o término da banda foi cogitado, o que não aconteceu. As mudanças: Bernie Marsden, Neil Murray e Ian Paice deixam a banda. Mas Coverdale não esmorece e chama Cozy Powell para substituir Paice. Mel Galley (ex-Trapeze) assume a guitarra e Colin Hodgkinson o baixo. Lançam Saints And Sinners que conquista o público com músicas como Here I Go Again e Crying In The Rain.
Slide It In de 1984 traz mais uma mudança: Micky Moody sai, sendo substituído por John Sykes (ex-Tygers Of Pan Tang). O álbum é um sucesso (Love Aint No Stranger e Guilty Of Love estão nele), considerado um dos mehores da banda. Mel Galley apresenta problemas no braço e fica afastado da banda. O Whitesnake segue com um só guitarrista. O baixista Neil Murray volta para a banda enquanto Jon Lord volta para o Deep Purple.
Em 1985 a banda toca no Brasil, no Rock in Rio, no lugar do Def Leppard (que desistiu na última hora devido ao trágico acidente de carro de seu baterista, Rick Allen, que teve um braço amputado). Cozy Powell também deixa a banda e em seu lugar entra Aynsley Dunbar. Whitesnake de 1987 traz como participação especial, o guitarrista Adrian Vandenberg. A música Is This Love estoura nas paradas mundiais, sendo inclusive tema de telenovela no Brasil.
As mudanças não param por aí, Vandenberg é efetivado na banda e John Sykes sai (dizem que ele queria ser o único guitarrista), Tommy Aldridge e Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot) substituem Aynsley Dunbar e Neil Murray respectivamente. Vivian Campbell (atualmente no Def Leppard) faz do Whitesnake um quinteto mais uma vez. O próximo álbum Slip Of The Tongue de 1989 porém, tem Steve Vai na guitarra, em vez de Campbell.
Apesar do sucesso de hits como The Deeper The Love, o disco não vendeu muito bem, e Coverdale decide dar um tempo. Ele só volta em 93 com um projeto chamado Coverdale / Page (com Jimmy Page, ex-Led Zeppelin).
Coverdale reformulou o Whitesnake em 1994, lançando uma coletânea, Greatest Hits. Em dezembro de 97 esteve no Brasil, no show da festa da 89 FM promovendo seu novo álbum, Restless Heart. Starkers In Tokyo surgiu quando a EMI propôs que Coverdale e Adrian Vandenberg fizessem um show acústico no Japão para promover o novo álbum. O resultado foi tão bem aceito pelos fãs que acabou virando CD.
Em 2000, a gravadora lançou o "The Best Of", um disco que traz todos os grandes hits que fizeram do Whitesnake uma das melhores bandas de Hard Rock do mundo. Já em 2003, ele começam uma turnê mundial, onde forma "headliners" em diversos festivais na Europa e América do Norte. No "line up" estão Reb Beach e Doug Aldrich nas guitarras, Timothy Drury nos teclados, Marco Mendonza no baixo e Tommy Aldridge na bateria, além é claro, de Coverdale nos vocais.
